My body burns upon hearing the flute’s melody,
Throwing away the water from my house,
My heart yearns to run to the Yamuna.

Listen, O my friend Lalita,
How can I live without my beloved?
The bird of my life (soul) wants to fly away.

I am a woman from a respectable family,
But Kala’s flute has ignited a burning pain,
My body darkens with the constant thought of my beloved.
